We Offer The Following Waterproofing Services:

Foundation Repair / Cracks

If you have cracks in your foundation caused by bowing walls or shrinkage cracks, J.D. Johnson Waterproofing has proven structural and/or waterproofing methods to address cracks from the interior of the basement. Depending on the severity of the structural damage, this either involves carbon fiber bracing or I-Beam bracing. Both methods brace the field of the wall and ties it into both the wood framing above and at the base of the wall. Every foundation issue is unique that has occurred in a mirid of foundation materials used over the past 100 years or more. As a result, one method may be better suited for the situation than the other. Leaky foundation cracks may be addressed by applying carbon fiber epoxied strips over the wall cracks (if it is a masonry block) or smooth-faced poured concrete wall, or seal the crack with an epoxy injection when a brick textured poured concrete wall is encountered.

Interior Basement Waterproofing Systems

Interior Drainage

J.D. Johnson Waterproofing can resolve your basement water issues from the inside of your house by utilizing the following steps:

  • Step 1: Concrete floor perimeter is removed. Trench is dug for clean gravel base and draintile.
  • Step 2: Weep holes are drilled in the base of the basement wall blocks (if traditional concrete masonry unit blocks).
  • Step 3: Install non-porous moisture barrier on the wall to prevent moisture and dampness from collecting on the walls. Diverting water intrusion through the foundation wall/cracks/weepholes behind the moisture barrier and down to the perimeter draintile.
  • Step 4: Install clean gravel layer around the draintile and against the moisture wall barrier.
  • Step 5: Install perforated sump basin and professional sump pump that redirects water collected from draintile to the storm sewer system.

Sump Pump Installation

A fully functional sump pump is crucial in removing pools of standing water resulting from heavy downpours or constant hydrostatic pressure (water that comes up from the ground). Our new interior drainage system described above includes a fully functional sump pump and perforated crock that is tied into the sewer system. The installation process is fast, seamless and extremely effective.

We also highly recommend using a backup battery sump pump system to provide emergency power to your pump in the event of a power outage during a heavy storm, allowing it to continue running when you need it most. Contact J.D. Johnson Waterproofing to service and/or replace your existing sump system. We also install battery backup sump pump systems to existing primary sump pumps.

Exterior Waterproofing

Downspout Extensions

Your gutters and downspouts play a vital role in exterior waterproofing. This system takes incoming rainwater and diverts it away from the home.

However, not all homes have downspout extensions, and that causes water to puddle next to your home. By installing this extension, it allows the water to move further from the home, and away from the soil next to your foundation. If water is allowed to collect or puddle next to the home, it creates pressure on the foundation walls and may eventually lead to bowing walls.

To help ensure the water coming from your home is not ending up too close, we install downspout extensions. This component works in tandem with a french drain system in moving water away from the home.

Yard Drainage

Another way to waterproof the exterior of a home is to improve the yard drainage. If you see puddles forming in your yard after a heavy rainstorm, it’s a sign to install a yard drainage system. This will generally include some grading of the area around the house to make sure all the yard slopes away and installing a french drain system to channel surface water away from the yard.

French Drain

A french drainage system, also known as a weeping tile, is essentially a trench containing a perforated pipe that is then filled with clean gravel and used to help channel excess water from the yard and downspout extensions. By having this installed on your home, it will prevent ground and surface water from damaging the foundation of your home, and cause water leaks in the basement.

Crawl Space Encapsulation & Repair

If your crawl space is damp or musty, it can affect your entire house. Mold, mildew, and wood rot are all common byproducts of a crawl space high in moisture content. JD Johnson Waterproofing offers a broad range of crawl space solutions including vapor barriers and dehumidifiers, and much more. Give us a call today to improve your home’s health.
