Suppose you have cracks in your foundation caused by bowing walls or shrinkage cracks. In that case, J.D. Johnson Waterproofing has proven structural and waterproofing methods to address cracks in the basement’s interior. Depending on the severity of the structural damage, this either involves carbon fiber bracing or I-Beam bracing. Both methods brace the wall’s field and tie it into the wood framing above and at the base of the wall. Every foundation issue is unique, occurring in a mirid of foundation materials used over the past 100 years or more. As a result, one method may be better suited for the situation than the other.
Interior Basement Waterproofing
Interior Drainage
J.D. Johnson Waterproofing can resolve your basement water issues from the inside by redirecting foundation water with a moisture barrier to a french drain that discharges to an interior sump pump system.
Step 2:
Weep holes are drilled in the base of the basement wall blocks (if traditional concrete masonry unit blocks).
Crawl Space Encapsulation And Repair
If your crawl space is damp or musty, it can affect your entire house. Mold, mildew, and wood rot are common byproducts of a crawl
space high in moisture content. JD Johnson Waterproofing. offers various crawl space solutions, including vapor barriers, dehumidifiers, and much more.
J.D. Johnson Waterproofing achieves this through the use of a highly durable product known as a vapor barrier. The vapor barrier is a thick, fiber reinforced flexible membrane that is installed on the walls and dirt floor. Thereby sealing out moisture and ground vapors.
The benefits of a sealed crawl space are:
- Improve indoor air quality
- Help prevent pipes from freezing in the winter
- Keep floors warmer in the winter
- Increase energy efficiency of the home
- Add storage space to the home
- Increase the life of the foundation
Sump Pump Installation
A fully functional sump pump is crucial in removing pools of standing water resulting from heavy downpours or constant hydrostatic pressure (water that comes up from the ground). Our new interior drainage system described above includes a fully functional sump pump and perforated crock that is tied into the storm system. The installation process is fast, seamless and extremely effective.
We also highly recommend using a backup battery sump pump system to provide emergency power to your pump in the event of a power outage during a heavy storm, allowing it to continue running when you need it most. Contact J.D. Johnson Waterproofing to service and/or replace your existing sump system. We also install battery backup sump pump systems to existing primary sump pumps.
Exterior Waterproofing
J.D. Johnson Waterproofing can also resolve your basement water issues from the outside by redirecting foundation water to new schedule 35 draintile installed against footing and embedded with #57 washed gravel. Wall cracks are sealed and overlaid with dimple board to shed water downward to draintile system. Additionally, new schedule 35 solid downspout piping is installed and connected to the storm system. After backfill is completed, the area is graded.
