For years, sump pumps have been a pretty common fixture for homes with basements and crawl spaces. The pump is commonly found in a sump pit at the lowest part of the basement or crawl space. Sump pumps will turn on automatically from a pressure sensor or float activator and channels excess water through pipes that drain into an area away from the home. Unfortunately, even with proper maintenance and checking, sump pump failure will eventually happen.

When you have a sump pump malfunction, the chance of a basement flood increases whenever it rains, or heavy snowfall begins to melt on your lawn. This will cause serious damage to the basement, foundation, and any items stored in this area of your home.
